From Mama’s Chair:

“Fear is loud. But baby, faith whispers — and still wins.”

Let me be real with you, sugar.

Fear don’t always show up with screaming and panic.
Sometimes it comes dressed like logic.
Sometimes it sounds like your inner critic trying to protect you.
Sometimes it says things like:

  • “What if you fail?”

  • “What will people think?”

  • “You’re not ready.”

  • “You don’t have enough money.”

  • “Somebody else is already doing it.”

And before you know it?
You’re sitting in the passenger seat of your own life, letting fear drive you nowhere fast.

But here’s what I’ve learned:
Fear is not your advisor. It’s your alarm system.
It’s meant to alert you, not lead you.
And if you let it make your decisions…
you’ll wake up one day in a life that looks safe
but feels like a cage.

Mama’s Storytime:

“When Fear Told Me to Sit Down… and I Stood Up Anyway”

I remember it like it was yesterday.

I had just poured my second cup of tea when the email came through.
Subject line read: “Keynote Opportunity: You’ve Been Nominated.”
My heart skipped — then thudded like a bass drum.

It was an invite to speak.
A real stage. Not a church basement or a family reunion.
We talkin’ lights, sound crew, people flying in, name printed on a flyer.

You’d think I’d be shouting with joy, right?
But chile…
I read that email three times and then closed my laptop like it was on fire.

Fear came knockin’ fast — and loud:

“Girl, what are you doing?”
“You ain’t no speaker.”
“These people got TED Talks and book deals — you got journals and half-written dreams.”
“You gon’ get up there and freeze.”
“They gon’ find out you not really as wise as they think.”

And just like that… I started shrinking.

Not physically.
But mentally. Emotionally. Spiritually.
I was about to say no to the very thing I had prayed for… just because it scared me.

That night, I sat in bed holding my tea like it could save me from myself.
And something — deep in my gut, maybe in my spirit — whispered:

“What if fear is just faith that hasn’t been fed yet?”

That hit me hard.

Because I realized:
I’d spent years encouraging other folks to speak up, step forward, shine bright.
But when it was my time?
I was about to sit it out.

Why?
Because fear was loud.
But you know what’s louder when you let it speak?

Purpose.

So I did something simple.
I reopened the laptop, took a deep breath, and typed two words:
“I’m in.”

Baby… I was still scared.
I still didn’t know what I was gonna say.
My voice still trembled when I held that microphone.

But when I stood on that stage and saw those eyes watching me, waiting, needing something real…
something ancient and powerful rose up in me.

Not perfection.
Presence.

And let me tell you something — I didn’t just give a talk that night.
I broke a generational curse.
I chose courage over comfort.
I chose to belong on the stage I almost declined.

So hear me, baby:
That fear? It ain’t proof you’re unqualified.
It’s proof that you’re stepping into something bigger than where you’ve been.

You don’t need to wait until you feel fearless.
You just need to be bold enough to say “I’m in,” and trust that everything you need will meet you at the mic.

Mama’s Soulwork:

Ask yourself these 3 questions:

  1. What decision have I been putting off because fear is too loud?

  2. If I wasn’t afraid, what would I do this month?

  3. What would happen if I did it anyway?

Write your answers down. Stare that fear in the face — and reclaim your voice.

Charlie Hustle’s Tip of the Week:

“Scared money don’t make legacy moves.”

Charlie says this:
You can analyze until you’re paralyzed.
But at some point, you gotta leap — scared or not.

Don’t let fear be the reason you stay broke.
Don’t let fear be the reason you stay silent.
Don’t let fear be the reason you watch somebody else live the dream you were born for.

“You don’t have to be fearless to win — you just gotta be braver than your excuses.”

Mama’s Final Word:

Fear will talk you out of love.
It’ll talk you out of growth.
It’ll talk you out of miracles.
If you let it.

But baby, there is a bolder version of you —
Already inside you.
Already equipped.
Already ready.

You don’t have to wait until you’re not scared.
You just have to trust what’s bigger than the fear.

And that, my love… is you.

With courage, clarity, and a hand on your back,
– Mama Keys
